Thats great. Thats how at least half of the schools should be here for me to consider the education system here acceptable. I don't get why people have a problem with me asking for more. If no one ever did, this state wouldn't have ONE school like the one you were lucky enough to go to/your parents were smart enough to live in its district.

Default hmmm.....

There is also an obvious prescription pill abuse problem here along with other drugs as well. The US Attorney recently stated that FL prescribes 10 times more oxycodone than the rest of the country COMBINED. Much if not most is illegetimate as is obvious with all the clinic drug raids.

I can't help but wonder how much of that is legal and for the senior community.

That said, I've been looking at the criminal statistics and I'm worried, because I like the idea of moving south. I'm in Jersey, have been in PA and seriously looking at all options for many reasons.

I work in Education and going back to school; have two young teenagers and a disabled husband. Looking for financial opportunity and a place that I can call home for the next 20 years anyway. High School and Colleges (for them and me) is important.

The crime can be somewhat managed from what I can see-although I live in a very low crime rate community, I can assure you it is here.
My point is trying to be- stats can be misleading and crime can be camouflaged. For Pete's sake, in the Amish Community in PA has hidden some of the most prevalent meth communities in the Greater Philadelphia area. I would never have guessed.

But, I do want to keep my kids safe and open to hearing what places are good. My field (Autism and special education/ Child Development/Child Life Specialist) is where I planted and want to continue to grow. Thoughts are welcomed.

Look at the Carolinas and Coastal Georgia, You'll get seasons like you're used to, You'll still get winter weather but it won't be as dramatic as you're used to in Jersey and PA, and you'll still be on the beaches, lower crime then FL, and possibly better schools.

There are also other very nice Sunbelt areas in parts of Louisiana and Texas.

Stay where you are. You can't beat the schools, you can attend a state college and not have to worry about out-of-state tuition, and there are FAR more job opportunities where you are compared to Florida.

Florida is not the state to be looking in with that kind of criteria. It's the place for retirees, people being job transferred and vacation home buyers. Period.

That's a pretty solid assessment.

Single Mom, Tallahassee is quite nice. The schools are good, and we have nice colleges as well.

Will you need a job? What field?

What is your housing budget?

Public transportation is very limited outside the metro areas.
