As someone who moved from NY, I was used to dealing with LIPA (now PSEGLI), where the bills would be unreadable, analog meter reads would occur bimonthly if you were lucky, and their balanced billing and estimated charges would be ridiculous. Plus, you're paying 20 cents per KWh.

In my new home in Florida, I'm able to check my energy use at a high degree of granularity - daily, hourly, and look at trends. I even can get an estimated bill.

When I moved in I replaced most of my recessed incandescent lights with LED bulbs, and it's great to be able to see the difference easily and online.

While nobody really loves their utility I will say that the investment in smart meters combined with a useful website is great for the consumer. It also helps me plan for generator sizing for outages because I can look at average use + maximum daily use in a particular day or hour (wow, the dryer sure does use a lot!)

Anyone else using FPL's "my energy usage" website?

Yes I use it when I have a property in my own name whilst working on it.
Easy to sign up for the first time and even easier to add another property later on.
Now the water dept in PSL, arse backwards with anything tech but they do seem to have great people working there.

I think FPL is a pretty good company, and it has been my experience that they have some of the lowest rates in Florida.

I have mixed feelings about the new meters, but I do like their website, especially the "dashboard."
