Hi,
Professional relocating to Panama City area. Looking for rental property. Can you recommend any apt complexes or any to avoid? I hope to avoid party buildings, weekly rentals, etc. Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Actually I am not going to the area after all. I have looked however and you will find rents are high. Strangely enough you will also find expensive housing next to shacks. There are listings on craigslist just beware of "false ads" If it's sounds too good to be true, it probably is, just as anything else in life. You may want to go to a realtor, they know the areas best. Also the hospital where you go to work can be a housing resource. Good luck to you!

Panama City is nice, (during the day), but seems dreary at night. A nice growing area nearby is Navarre, (only 20 miles away). You don't get the spring breakers and navarre isn't much of a 'party town'. Housing is very reasonable if you're not on Navarre Beach. Holly by the Sea is a nice neighborhood with all the perks. Huge workout room & pools, etc..Good luck! p.s. Santa Rosa County is, (or was), a dry county..Not sure about now.

Craigslist is new to Panama City, and isn't really the place to find rentals. Most rentals are handled by real estate companies, or a company called Joni's Beach Rentals (she does long term rentals, too). There are several new apartment buildings... but ask if they are a "low income" property or what percentage of their property is low income because several of the new ones have deals with the state for lower bonds for offering discounted rent to low income people.

I personally would avoid almost anything in Panama City proper.

I am considering a move to the Panama City area, starting first with a rental to get a grip on the area and home purchase later on. Being single and middle aged, I wonder about making social connections and being safe. I will be visiting in two weeks to check out the area. Where should I start?
