My favorite Germanic meal is schnitzel (either weiner or jaeger), spaetzle, sweet and sour shredded red cabbage, and cheese strudel.

Sounds like me, when I wanted to fix an "authentic" English dinner, I looked at a cookbook, and seriously could not find anything that sounded like something I really wanted to eat! I mean, really, Steak and Kidney pie? Are you kidding me?! Lamb Fries? Forget it.

I went with Bangers and Mash, mashed potatoes with sausages.

As for German food, how about a German pancake? Not too bad on fat, you could modify it, and serve with stewed apples.

And cabbage rolls are German food? I think so...
