Was just wondering how much everyone is spending at the food store compared to 2 or 3 years ago since prices have gone up. I think I am spending about 120 a week for 2 people.
(Not including food and other stuff for my 5 dogs, two cats and a big parrot)

I comment weekly how food prices are going up. Around here, the one store I go to most will raise and lower prices weekly--like a food game. One week down 1.00, next up.
I spend about 90-95 for 2. We only eat chicken (organic from Trader Joe's which is not costly) and fish (few times/week). We don't eat many convenience type foods or frozen (cuz of high sodium content). We eat simpler and more basic foods.
But, I wonder for families of 4-5, what do they do?

I spend about $40 per week for groceries for myself and my daughter. I don't buy meat, so fresh fruit is our biggest expense.

that is about us as well. We do a Sam's run every month or 6 weeks and spend about $150.00 to $200.00 including paper products, food and animal food as well a vitimens, etc. Then I spend $25 to $40.00 a week at our local grocery store, depending on company, eating out, etc. We usually only eat out a couple of times a month, maybe a little more often. Our budget, because we are semi retired consists of all 3 meals a day.

$200/m everything included (cleaning supplies, household needs, paper products, personal needs, hair care, skin care, etc.) Just food alone? ~$160/m, and that's for two people. No pet.

It's the same budget for us since 2005.

Big monthly shop ( including cleaning products, and other household goods) is just under $ 250 ish, then we have small top up shops once a week-ish which are about $30/50 for things like fresh veggies and whatever is on special offer at our wonderful supermarket.

Sheesh...I wish I could get by on that. Sigh. I was thinking this same thing yesterday, HOW can our food costs be so high??? Thursday I went to Whole Foods, 'cuz that's the only place I can get the gluten free bread my husband likes, spent $83. and walked out with two bags. Yesterday I went to the local Piggly Wiggly, and spent another $130. CRAZY! There's only 2 of us, and besides, that was only food/wine, I buy all my cleaning supplies at Target.
Gluten free stuff is sooooooooooo expensive!!!
