My mother is 86. She insists that Campbell changed it's recipe for chicken noodle soup, the regular one we always got. I think it may be her sense of taste has changed, I don't notice any difference, but she doesn't say that about other foods. What's your opinion?
I had a can of Campbells Chicken Noodle soup for dinner the other night and it tasted the same to me. Tastes just like when I was a kid!
Your Mom's taste buds may not work as well as they used to. My Dad is 84 and he often says that food doesn't taste like it used to or it has no taste at all. I think our taste buds dull as we get older.
Campbells makes chicken noodle soup with extra noodles. Maybe your Mom got that by accident? That's the kind my husband likes and I don't like it....seems starchy to me. Maybe that's the difference your Mom is noticing.
I know the soup variety you're talking about, but no, it's the same one we've had all through the years. She won't say it's her and not the soup, so I thought I'd check and see what others think.
Maybe you could try using less water when making the soup. A richer taste might suit her better. I wouldn't doubt that Campbell's started adding more water to cut expenses, so Mom might be spot on!
My mother started saying everything was "sweet" when she got into her early 80's.
Well, God bless her at 86 for being able to have an opinion!! I'd say just remark, "Gees, isn't that interesting", and let it go. I wish I had my mom around to hear what she'd have to say about things of today. Right or wrong, wouldn't matter as long as she was here to enjoy. You're very lucky to still have her with you.
Listen to your mother. She is probably paying attention to the taste whereas others just eat the soup. I would not assume that her taste has changed, that's insulting.
