That's all my Grandpa used to drink when I was a kid. And no, he did not mix it with anything. Mama gave it to us when we had an upset stomach, and I remember the bubbles tickled my nose but I never really cared for it. They still make it and I believe I have seen it not too long ago.
I am from MI and I think Vernors started there so it is more available. Here in CA they have it but it is more $$ and they had it in FL when I lived there. I remember since I grew up with Vernors being gingerale to me that when I lived in MJ I ordered gingerale and it was very different taste.
OP are you from MI? I think a lot of Faygo pop or soda is from MI.
I grew up in a suburb of Detroit, and I can remember going past the Vernor's bottling plant in my parents' car many times. It was too spicy for my tastes as a youngster, but nowadays Vernor's is the only ginger ale I've found that isn't insipid and way too sickly sweet. It takes some hunting to find it (we live in Wisconsin now) but that's the only ginger ale I'll buy.
I remember hearing at one point that there are a few other brands of high-octane ginger ale around, but they, too, are a regional phenomenon.
Vernor's gingerale? I think it's a regional thing. The only place I've seen it regularly is Michigan.
Nope. I drink it here in California all the time. First had it in California in the early 70's. The greatest gingerale on earth. You can buy it in diet and regular here too.
Dang, now I have to go out and buy some!!!!
