I know eating out is expensive, but sometimes when you've been busting your rear end at work, you just want to get out and go somewhere to eat.
I don't cook much at home, so if I do bring food on occasion, it'll be take away, frozen dinners, or sandwich meat and bread. But even doing that, I tend to go out to eat.
^^I am with you on the leftovers, though I do it for the cost savings (not only don't have to go out to buy, but want to use up the leftovers and not waste the money I already spent buying that food), plus because I know my leftovers are healthier for me than going out. Our lunch time is only 30 minutes, so it would be very difficult to go out and back in the amount of time!
I've never heard the phrase "take away" before until literally recently. I've heard fast food, take out, drive-thru, actual names of restaurants like Wendy's, Arby's etc. Never ever take away lol.
But, my company offers free lunch, so I just eat for free.
School lunches are disgusting, since Mrs. Obama stuck her finger in the pot. So, i usually bring something from home. Funny thing is the kids always want to trade lunches with me

School lunches have been disgusting for decades. The food my nephews get now is actually much better than anything I was served in the 80's in the same school district.
I eat breakfast and lunch at work. If I'm eating dinner at work, I know it's a bad day.
I work in an industrial ghetto, and there are few places around to eat out - which is just as well. When I was working in downtown Cincinnati, I ate out more often than I should have. It got kinda expensive.
For breakfast, I'll bring yogurt, and I keep oatmeal packets in my desk (in a tin to discourage the mousies). For lunch, I bring leftovers, and keep a can of soup and a can of tuna (and a can opener) in my desk for emergencies.
I'd normally bring food to the office (I'm working from home currently), but would occasionally eat out, though at no place pricey (i.e. I'd eat at fast food joints mainly if I did eat out). I'd generally cook for the week, and bring leftovers in to the office for lunch. That or I'd make a sandwich.
I always used to bring leftovers, sandwiches, or a frozen dinner. I couldn't afford to eat out.
