I used store bought frozen meatballs in the crockpot tonight (covered with marinara sauce) and they tasted okay but I don't like finding bone chips in my meat. Does anyone know of a good brand that doesn't have the occasional bone chip? It makes me cringe. This is the same reason I can never eat a "Whataburger" again. I ate there once and after the third bone chip in three bites, I had to toss my burger away. Gross!

We're home locally to a big producer of prepared meatballs and their Mama Lucia meatballs are pretty good. If I have one complaint its that they add turkey to the pork and beef but the taste is still good. They're a good size, small, so you can put them in hoagie rolls and not have to worry about them falling out. I think many meatballs have turkey in them so maybe the high end prepared meatballs are better but also more expensive.

I have never found any frozen meatballs that don't taste like dog food. I love the idea of just dumping out some frozen ones, but I just can't like any that I've tried.

OK so here's the solution. One Sunday, buy about 5 lbs of good ground beef, and spend a couple hours making your own, cook them in the oven at 350 for about a half hour, then freeze in freezer bags. That's what I do.

Mama Lucia are OK. Never had a bone chip in their meatballs, but then again I never found a bone chip in any beef I have eaten.

Best are homemade, and you can make them in an hour or less. At least they will be tasty and not full of chemicals.

The only way to have meatballs as Claud said, is to make them yourself. I use ground pork and beef, a lot of grated Parm. cheese, Panko bread crumbs, parsley, cloves of garlic, minced onion. I fry mine and always make extra to freeze.

If you must buy ready-to-eat then try Swedish ( famous) or Italian.

I actually love the taste and texture of frozen meatballs. One of the best brands I have ever tried is "Cooked Perfect". They taste almost home made to me. Here is their website:
