I loved the clam plate at HoJo's, too, and followed it up with a scoop of peppermint ice cream -- it looked like frozen Pepto, but it was delicious!!

Interesting, all the comments about HoJo's.

One of the well regarded Jacques Pepin's first jobs in the US was recipe development for HoJo's, they took it quite seriously and tried to turn out meals that they themselves would be proud to take home and serve to guests. Then the $$$ became the guiding factor

Do you mean chewels? They came in different flavors, like other gums. I think my favorite was bubble gum chewels, which were pink (naturally).

I always thought they were kind of gross, yet compelling. It's the same way I feel about jack in the box tacos now.

What about that purple gum, came in chicklets, that used to taste like soap, but for some reason, we seemed to like anyway. Forget what it was called ..

I still like it (yeah, I'm a freak), and buy it whenever I see it. It's called C. Howard Scented Gum.

McDonald's Arch Deluxe. This didn't last long. I liked them but I don't remember exactly how they were made.

Wendy's Big Classic.

Jack-in-the-Box's Jumbo Jack with secret sauce.

Someone mentioned the McRib; they just had them here a few months ago. How do I know? Hubby loves them and is so sad that they're gone.

Aren't the McRibs seasonal? Did they say they are gone for good? That sandwich is over 25 years old. It seams like they are back on the menu in the fall each year. I may be wrong about that but I do know they have been on and off the menus since forever ago. I know it's not as good as the origial from the late 70's but still a welcome change from burgers and fish and chicken.
