Not sure what's the best forum for this, but it certainly relates to food.

I'm supposed to choose a gas barbecue for someone - and that's something I know nothing about. I was looking at Consumer Reports, and wondered if anyone here knows anything about brands. Three of the recommended ones are by Fiesta, Brinkmann, and Char-Broil. Does anyone have any opinions about the quality of those brands? Or another good site that would have comparative ratings?

Are they set on gas? I know of some pellet grills/smokers that are really good. Charcoal is another option I'd go with rather than gas, but to each their own.

What do they want to do w/it? Just grill steaks/burgers/dogs? Smoke? Bake?

How old are they? What kinda money are they wanting to spend?

Grill'n/smoke'n is one of my favorite things to do. Answer some questions and I'll do most of the research for ya. I'm kind of a freak when it comes to this stuff.............well.........I'm just a freak anyway.

A friend of mine bought a gas grill at Sam's that I reallylike. Stainless like a 48X30 cooking area and it has cast metal grill and full coverage squares of cerranic squares below. I always have a gas grill because it is so much quicker and easier to keep up than charcoal that I use only for Bar BQ, That was I can do steaks;fish;corn as fast as using the jitchen stove under my patio. I see so many of these stainlesss gas grills that have cheap grills and use those bunpsceramic just like teh very cheap ones that I don't think they ar worth any more really. Also nice oif you have a natural gas outlet ands grill;no bottles to constntly fill.

I believe that whatever you buy make sure the grates are stainless steel. That way they won't rust. It's really recommended you buy a full stainless steel grill. Trust me, I found out the hard way. I even had a full length cover on my mine and never left it out in rain uncovered. Completely rusted and had to throw it out..Waste of money

We got a Bucane and love, love, love it!! We have owned a bucane for many years in the past and only had to purchase a new one because of our move (our other was a built-in). Would never own anything else!

We just bought a new stainless steel Sear Kenmore brand from Kmart on closeout. We got a $350 4 burner grill for $262. It has a large grill as well as a nice sized burner on the side. Our old little $99 cheapy just wasn't cutting it anymore!

I have a stainless steel perfect flame with 4 burners and love it. the only thing I would do differently is get a grill with an infrared burner on it...great for searing meats to lock in the juices. one rule is the more burners the easier you can control the temp. mine also has a side burner for cooking with a skillet or pot. good luck!!
