I went to a restaurant in Tampa years ago called Lee Roy Selmon's and they had this shrimp and polenta dish that was to DIE for. I just looked on their site and they don't make it anymore and I don't live in Tampa.

It was grilled shrimp on top of a polenta cake drizzled with a garlic, barbecue butter. Oh man, what I would do for some of that right now.

Any ideas?

You can try emailing and maybe Mama Selmon would share the recipe. Outback doesn't own them anymore but Selmon is still a partner.
I love the back country nacho's there.

What is the difference between Shrimp and Polenta and the southern standard Shrimp and Grits, which is found on many southern menus?

Personally, I had the best version ever last week at Barbara jean's Restaurant in Ponte Vedra, FL. The dish consisted of large shrimp properly seasoned and well cooked in a cajun sauce over some of the finest cheesy grits that I have ever had. Wow, what a dish.

And the crabcakes were also spectacular. 90% crabmeat with little filler. Made it worth teh hour it took me to find the place.

Fact, Lee Roy and his brother Dewy are from the great state of Texas. He certainly learned that taste while living in Tampa.
