so i've got one of those look nice black stove tops, but they are a pain to clean and now i've got some of the plastic melting off. i'm renting, so now i'm worried I might have to replace it. how do you clean these things? how do you make sure not to let it get to hot?

what kind of crappy design is this? i hate cooking on these. i wish i had gas

Have one-hate it but use the new Scrubber by 3M-it's great. If not get the cream for cleaning at a big box store or appliance store.

Try using baking soda to clean it.

I have one too--the former owners put it in. I hate it. Gas is so much better.

I concur about the 3M scrubbies. Soft scrub works okay too. The grit is very fine, so it shouldn't scratch the glass.
