Nice still for the first year would let other people "test" them out and if I were in the market for a new F150 would bag a new 2014 F150 that are sitting deeply discounted with tons of incentives and rebates on Ford dealer(s) lots right now.
heck I love the look/styling of the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor 4x4 that would be a nice rig with the optional 6.2 liter V-8 and tow/haul package
Plus it's only a 2 seater - not even a bench. How useless. I love the styling though! To be honest if I was shelling out that much money for a truck I'd spend a little more for the SVT Raptor.
I got invited to a dealer preview a couple of weeks ago. You have to see the high dollar ones to like one. My pick of the best looking is the Blue Jean Blue and Tan King Ranch. The XLT and FX are butt ugly. The FX looks like an XL cheapy with a 40 grand price tag. The interiors are pretty much the same with some dimensional changes. I'm not a fan of the Platinum console. It takes up far too much room. For tall folks like me, it's in the way on long trips as you can't settle down/relax in the seats. The console in the XLT is just stupid big and you have a head rest that hangs off of the seat when it's in the down position. That also means you can't use the cupholder that sits on the front of the console. And it's stupid wide. You also have no amp or voltage gauge in one. It's in the cluster of crap that you thumb thru with the controls on the steering wheel. You get a tach, speedo, coolant temp, oil pressure, trans temp, and fuel gauge....that's all folks. If you get an XL, you don't get the crap that you can thumb thru. So best of luck with a dead battery. The EB is the same engine with the 2.7 being the new kid on the block. It drives about like an old 5.4. It's no dog but it's no drag engine either. Considering all of the issues with blown engines with the 5.0 V8s, it's probably a good option for those that need a little fuel mileage and yet have enough guts to pull a trailer of medium size/weight. The Select Shift is a real treat but it's also the same one in the previous models. The cabs are almost deafening quiet even at 75 mph. Ride is more like a Lincoln or Caddy than a truck. I doubt the carrying capacity of 1600 lbs for a standard payload. I'm not a fan of the inner fenderless rear axle. It's going to be a problem for folks that live on ranches where mud is an issue. And there's nothing to mount mud flaps on either. To sum it up, they are one nice soccer mom, open trunk, car. As a truck, they aren't even close.
That's a good looking truck, I am with you gentleman, price is way out there. But as you all know, 99 percent of buyers never see mud and they tip toe over a bitty speed bump.
There are some stupid options on that test truck that I just don't think lots of people will spend for. Massaged seats? All that fluff negates much of the weight savings possible with the aluminum body.
The bread and butter XLT with sensible options seems like a better example to look at. The 2.7L V6 is likely to be a hit if its reliability holds up.
Wheel well liners were an accessory/option on previous F150s. Hard to imagine they won't be available for the 2015.
