A Southern California couple pleaded with Ford Motor Co. years ago to buy back a defective 2014 Ford Fiesta, but the company declined. Now, Darice and Edward Wirth will be paid $49,228.96, about three times what they requested initially for their leased vehicle that they returned early due to transmission problems.
Looks like Ford got caught playing stupid games and won a stupid prize. If heads don't roll for this and claw-backs of financial compensation aren't made, I will never buy another Ford again. It's the same story from just about every large corporation who gets too big to manage. They make lame-brain moves and try to cover it up. If you can't make a decent transmission these days, you're in the wrong business. Who was the transmission supplier, designer, and who was suppose to keep an eye on the long-term test vehicles? This just brings back bad memories of the Pinto, Taurus, Thunderbird, and Explorer fiascos...complete with internal memos showing they knew there was a problem and failed to act.

You think heads should roll for 50k at Ford? Get out of here with that nonsense
That’s pocket change for Ford, why people think this is big news. Automakers get sued all the time and no ones head is going to roll, lol i love the dramatics on here.

Note the author, she works for the Detroit Free Press and is always on a Ford witch hunt for something. She's more interested in making news and getting her name out there than reporting the truth.
I have first-hand experience with the Focus/Fiesta trans "issues" and there is a lot more to the story. The new regime is just basically throwing the old regime under the bus now because they don't want to deal with it anymore. They have insurance that covers these types of losses so they feel it's best to settle now and move on.
