My husband and I just took our first "scouting" trip to check out Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Loveland, Estes Park, and Fort Collins. We loved them all - especially Fort Collins - our favorite town so far. There were a couple of interesting things we saw though - the homeless asleep on the bench one night while families were all aroung playing - I guess people are just used to it - and then that store on College Ave. across from campus - right in the middle of town on the main street - the adult video/bookstore - seems kinda seedy for such a great town - usually places like this are hidden on the outside of town and not so visible - what is the deal with that? Just curious......

Concerning the homeless... ever been to Boulder? Lol... Go there and then say if Fort Collins has a lot of homeless.

There's actually a somewhat heated thread about homelessness in the Denver forum -- I think that Colorado cities tend to be fairly generous to the homeless, which means of course that there's plenty of them around, despite (or perhaps because of) a climate that's somewhat inhospitable to being homeless. Fort Collins does have several shelters in its downtown, so no doubt the homeless person you saw might have been connected.

As for the adult video store -- I know the one; it's been there since long before my time. No doubt there is a market for such things in any town, and I am sure that their placement near CSU is not entirely coincidental.
