In terms of house, yard space is probably the priority so these kids can get out of my hair! Thanks.
Pembroke Pines (western part), Davie, Cooper City, Weston - all OK

I'm a mortgage broker so I see some really good deals lately.

Well if I had to move to Florida all over again, I'd stay the hell out of anywhere in Broward, or out of anywhere in South Florida.

I don't like Cooper City. There is no specific thing that I can put my finger on that makes me not like it but I can just not see myself living there.

Regarding schools-none of the public schools are all that great although they are better in some places than others. They are better in Weston than any of the other places that you mention. If school really is the single most important consideration I would save yourself some trouble and concentrate on Weston. Cooper City schools are ok but they do not compare with Weston.
I remember visiting Cooper City the first time around but can't remember much about it... seemed pretty non-descript. I heard that some Davie zip codes share schools with Weston -- is that accurate?

I think it's Western High which I have heard mixed reviews about. I heard that Cypress Bay (which is only the Weston area) is better. But I live in Cooper City so can't say for sure. I have been happy with our choice including the schools

Are there communities within Cooper City that have homes with decent land -- about 1/2 acre?

Not that I know of...we are in Embassy Lakes and have about 1/4 acre. They may be a larger lot or two but in general I don't think you would find lots that size. Check with your realtor for sure. Good luck in your search!

What's your budget? If you want yard space, South Florida is typically not the best place for what you're looking for.

However, look at Plantation and SW Ranches area. The other cookie cutter developments don't have any yard space (less than a 1/4 acre, and your neighbors are so close you might as well be in a townhouse).

Good Luck moving down there, and finding an affordable home on more than a 1/4 acre.....

I would NEVER raise kids in So. Florida.... NEVER.

I'm single. No kids ( Thank you Jesus - Thank you Lord ).

However, for families, I advise ANYWHERE in Central and North Florida. Ocala, G-ville, Port Orange, even Tampa area.
