Next summer we are moving from Milan to Plantation with our children, 7 and 2 years old.

About public schools we have clear idea and we found the right one.

We are looking for private school too, but we need suggestions.

Do you know which are the best private schools in Plantation and why?

We hope in your suggestions, is very important for us

How did Plantation work out for you? My husband is considering a job at one of the univeristies in Davie, FL. I am not sure about the public schools, but we have found University School, which is a school for pre k through high school, and it is on the campus of Nova University. We are currently looking for a home to rent, which is difficult, not knowing the areas. We are being steered towards Weston, which isnt bad, just a little pricey on rentals for the house you get. Based on the date of your post, you have been there for a few years. What is your opinion on the area out there? How about the schools? Thank you for your input.

Dear Talia,
after we visited schools and cities in Broward County, we decided to live in Plantation and we love it.
I know the school that you are talking about, is a well known school and quite expensive. We evaluated several schools, both privates and publics. My little boy (now is 5) is still going to a private Pre-k and my older one is going to Central Park Elementary school, which is public. Both excellent schools.
When we first moved, took us long time to decide for the older son...Being italian I was scared to death..switching from a small private italian elementary school to "something" that I didn't know.
Basically it depends on the ages of your kids and if you feel better to have theme in private schools.
Plantation is a very well organized city.
Everything seems to be "built" around families and kids. Great sport facilities and malls.
this is a web site about Plantation
Plantation, The Grass is Greener - Official Website for the City of Plantation
about school check these, in Plantation:
Candil Jacaranda is a small Montessori school, is private Pk-8 (this year they have free VPK if you have little kids, is private but this year they are going to have VPK). I was undecided between this one and the public, finally we tried with the public and are very happy.
If you are Catholic, a good one is St. Gregory Pk-8
American Heritage PK3 - 12th (very good but very expensive)
Public: Central Park Elementary school k-5
PK: DPK (Developmental Pre-School & Kindergarten) my youngest kid is attending this school.
About Middle School, are better in Davie.

I don't know how to help you with houses
If you are looking for a condo check "Verona".
If you are looking for singles houses, there is a big choice, in prices and solutions.
Good luck and let me know if I can help you anyhow

Now that you have lived in Plantation for a while I was wondering how your family likes it. My husband, I and our 7 yr old would like to move down to ft.Lauderdale area from New York area for the weather and a more relaxed lifestyle. But we are very concerned about the cultural development for our daughter. Right now we have many cultural activities available to us such as art and science museums (not kids science) , classical music, Broadway shows, etc. My big concern is that Florida is a lot about looking good and materialism. But I hope I am wrong. Could you possibly comment on this?

I am so sorry. I received your message, and when I went to reply it was gone. I just found it. We did end up moving. We decided on Palm Beach County, Wellington to be exact. It is a little further for my husband to go to work, but the schools and people are great. I think you would be happy with the culture down here. Personally, I found Broward county to be older and more warn down. Dont get me wrong, there are some nice areas. My kids are 7 and 9 and love it down here. We are just starting to get very active with their activities, but all of the people have been great. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer.

That is very true!! More than half of the people I have met here have moved from Broward, and they will not go back. I am very happy in Palm Beach County, and have not really been to Broward, much. So, I cant say anything more about it.
