My wife is getting a job transfer to S. Fl from Nevada and we have a few options to choose from and we would like a little help. We are in our late 20s and have two children in elementary school. We would like a 3bd home/townhouse, spend ~2k/mo and have a <30 minute commute. We are looking for the best area to live that is safe, clean, has good public schools and just a overall good quality of life for a young family. The options for her job are in: Royal Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Plantation, Pembroke Pines, Ft. Lauderdale, and Margate. Any help is greatly appreciated, ty.

You could live and work in any of those cities. Plantation is very central and you could live in Plantation, Sunrise, Cooper City, Davie, Weston, Coral Springs, Tamarac, Pembroke Pines, or even Margate, with a very short commute to Plantation. All of those cities are very close together. All are in close proximity to Fort Lauderdale as well.

Delray Beach is further north and Royal Palm Beach is much further north and way out west on the fringe of Palm Beach County. Those are also good areas that you can live and work in. Royal Palm Beach is a little bit redneckish and isolated from the more urban areas though.

Hi, where exactly in Fort Lauderdale are you going to be commuting to?

The best city in Broward county for a young couple with elementary school children is Coral Springs. Right now you could get a townhome or a 3-4 bedroom single family home with a pool under $250,000 which would mean around $1800-$2000/month. Coral Springs is a Tree City USA, beautiful neighborhoods with lush landscaping and oak trees planted in the 80s. The parks seem to be on every block and the elementary schools are all A-rated.
