The only traffic in Weston is at specific roads during school times when everybody is going from or to school.

It is true that there is little traffic in Weston. I lived there for 10 years. However, if you have to commute via 595 there is a lot of traffic.

Express Lanes on i-595 are quite good though.

They weren't there when I was in Weston and working downtown. I have used them a few times when I had to go to Weston and then downtown afterwards. The experience was good.

There is no traffic on 595 anymore. The express lanes and massive overhaul of the ramps solved it. Great job.

And since you lived in Weston prior to the 595 project, maybe you shouldn't make comments about the commute, since you are providing inaccurate information....

I still live in west Broward and there is still traffic on 595. Not as much as before but it is still there. I have made many trips downtown recently enough to know there is still traffic. Why so nasty?

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give an update on where I decided to settle. Weston! and my family (including myself) love the town. My daughter is very happy with her school and looks forward to going. My wife thinks the town is beautiful and grown fond of it over the last 4 months.

The rent is a little high, $2,100 for a 2/2.5 1200 square feet, and does hurt the pockets somewhat, but definitely money well spent.

It would be nice to have more dining options and a Target or Walmart in Weston. We usually travel to the Sawgrass Mills mall for for shopping and dining needs, but the drive is only 15 minutes, not that bad.

Overall, I am very pleased with choosing Weston.

Now, that I know I want to stay in South Florida, I am starting to look into buying. Im looking for a 4/3 in the 400-500k price range. I hate that Weston has no new contruction, as I would prefer a new house. Parkland has a new community being built by Lennar in the Miralago cascata community, I went to visit the models and are beautiful with a great school district, however they are all 600-750k, out of my budget unfortunately.

Now, Lennar are also building new community townhomes in Davie, Miramar, and Hollywood (may be a different company) , at prices within my budget, however, they all fall under a school district with low rating schools.

I just found a community being built called “Chapel Grove” townhomes in Pembroke Pines (west) in the 350-450k range for 3 and/or 4 bedroom 2 and 3 story townhomes, within a good school district! Everything seems great - price, school district, and new. My concern however is Pembroke Pines. Its no Weston obviously, and I have heard from other people that the neighborhood is a not so great.

So now Im trying to decide between Chapel Grove in Pembroke or buying an older home in Weston.

What are people’s thoughts on this?

Thanks for the input!

Congrats!

+1 for more dining options

But a major *no* to Target or Walmart. One of the main reasons you like Weston the way it is now is because there are no big box stores in the city.

There are plenty of Walmarts close enough.

An older home in Weston (if I could help to find one for you , in your price range would be a better choice, still).

OTOH West Pembroke Pines is not a bad place. But it's not Weston.

How's your experience with special needs education service in Weston? If you are happy with the current service you are getting, then stay in Weston. This was the deciding factor for us.
