Moving to Florida, from Massachusetts, Nice Acceptable Condos for $600 or under a month. (Fort Lauderdale: apartments, to rent)

My fiance and I are planning on moving in January of 2010. We are unsure of where to move to, but I am looking for some help on suggesting a few places that have the following:

-pets allowed, 2 dogs both less than 25 lbs.
-pool, community or private.
-on-site fitness center,
-1 bedroom, or more.
-1 bathroom, or more.
-preferably a kitchen with a decent amount of counter space,
and something similar to an island, or bar counter.
-SAFE! meaning, *less chance of alligators and snakes.
*low crime rate.
*gated community, preferably.
and anything else that comes into mind, that means safe.


All of this, and if possibly more, for no more than $600 a month, not including utilities.


If you happen to know of any place like this, or someone who I can speak with that would know, please let me know.

Is this a joke? Seriously, you will not find anything close to that. Unless you meant per-person.

A decent place in a safe area will be at least 850-900, and probably won't include utilities. If you want a nicer place with a fitness center and other amenities, it will be hard to keep it below 900 for the base rent. The cheaper you go usually means the area is less safe or the apt. is less desirable for whatever reason.

1 bedroom or more? Gated community? On site fitness center? Try at least $1000. For 600 dollars, you could probably find a 1 bedroom with burglar bars though.

Maybe she meant per-person. Meaning if the two roommates each are willing to pay $600, then that would mean a $1200 apt. You MIGHT be able to find something that cheap, but probably not with a fitness center or utilities included, and probably not in a safe area.

For 1200/total you could easily get something safe and nice and 2 bedrooms, but probably no utilities/fitness unless it's a 1 bedroom.

In Fort Lauderdale? Probably not.

BUT, if you are willing to move north, and if jobs aren't a problem, you can find condos to rent in that price range with all or most of your amenities in Port St. Lucie. PSL is very safe as well.

Jensen Beach appears to have a couple of listings as well. Stay away from Fort Pierce. Also search other areas on the Treasure Coast.


Check out St. Andrews Pointe, and Tiffany Club Apartments, which advertise rents that you are looking for, with washer and dryer and free HBO. Again, PSL is one of Florida's safest cities.

When you find an address or complex that you are interested in, check back with us and we'll let you know what the area is like.
