How much do you pay each time (twice a year) for car insurance in South Florida? Whether you live in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, etc.

Car Insurance is pretty expensive here...one of the most expensive parts of the country, due to the high Insurance Fraud and level of accidents (Fort Lauderdale was recently voted the most dangerous city to drive in due to the high percentage of fatal accidents).

A good friend of mine grew up in Coral Springs (NW Broward County, in case you are not familiar with the area), and relocated to the city of Chicago (not a suburb). His insurance in Illinois is almost half of what he was paying in Chicago for a 2009 Honda.

Personally, I pay over 100 a month with 500 deductible and no accidents, tickets, or anything on my record. My rates have gone up each year since I moved here, with my insurance company even notifying me that the rate increase is due to the high insurance fraud in Florida...kind of a kick in the pants to a law-abiding, non-fraudulent citizen.

Anyways, expect to pay more than where you currently live...It's safe to say it's the most expensive place in Florida to insure a vehicle.

I pay $150/mo. for both my wife and my car. We live in Pines and have USAA. They are a great ins. company.

Wow...so you can't do anything for less than $100 a month? And can you do two payments (once every 6 months) instead of paying every month? That is what I currently do in Maine.

I've gotten quotes from Geico for around $90 for bare minimum coverage, but no, it's generally going to be over $100. If you do pay the full year or 6 months at once, you pay a little less.

You should contact a few insurance agents and get some quotes if you want real answers about what you will be paying for auto insurance. What other people are paying for auto insurance has little to do with what you will be paying, because there are many factors that determine an insurance premium such as, what type of coverage you want, your driving record, your insurance history, your address, your age, the type of vehicle your drive, and what types of discounts you may receive, to name a few.

It is possible that you will end up paying less than $100.00 a month, but you will never know unless you get a quote.

Most insurance companies hate people who choose to make monthly payments rather than paying their policies in full, so they encourage people to pay their policies in full and some even offer discounts for paying in this manner. If you want, you should be able to pay once every six months.

I think you misunderstood my post. Or maybe I didn't write it correctly. We pay $150/mo. total. That includes both my wife and my car. So basically we pay $75.00/mo. for each individual vehicle. That is with full coverage and $500 deductible.

Oh cool. I see now. 75 x 12 is $900 per year. So you could that $500 back and only pay $400 a year for insurance?

My previous insurance provider doubled my premiums for my two family cars. Went from ~$200 per month to over $300 per month. That's with 300/500/300 + uninsured protection + medical payments.
