Hi,

I currently live in the cape and just last month I managed to finally end a nasty 4yr uemployment streak and I'm anxious to finally lease an apartment of my own. The only problem is my new 9.50/hr full time job isn't going to afford me much but I figure I should be able handle anything within the $550-$600 range and maybe a little more depending on how many amenities come included.

I just spent the whole day searching on craigslist and apartmentguides.com and didn't find a whole lot but did manage to spot some listings of interest namely this $620 rental near gladiolus dr and tamiami trail:

As you might've suspected, there isn't too much else out there in my range that isn't either run-down, smack dab in a crummy neighborhood, or already rented out.

If anyone knows of a good apartment rental that's within my budget in Fort Myers, please let me know.

Although I've visited these boards a few times over the years, this is my first post. This seems like a very friendly forum and I look forward to interacting more with the community in the future!

I could do that, but I would rather not deal with the uncertainty of having to depend on someone else to both pay rent and remain a tenate. If at any point he/she can't do either, then I'm basically screwed.

There are very, very few places in Fort Myers that are that cheap. The biggest problem (next to finding one OUT of the hood) you're going to run into is qualifying for the unit. Most landlords want you to make 3x times the rent...(not all so be sure to ask if you find a place that cheap) and be employed at least 6 mths. Don't give up...there studio apts that are renting pretty cheap, you just need to find them.

Good luck to you and hope you find something.

I'd be more than happy to get even a decent studio apt. I'd just really like to move out now and not have to wait 6 more months...

I'll keep looking, but if anyone knows anything please let me know.
