Oct thru May 2 adults, AC on rarely , mostly ceiling fans, No pool. about $75 per month. during summer we are not there often with humidistat electric typically $35 month. when we go during the summer it increases to $65 extra per week with AC set on 74 degrees 1800 sq ft house so would be about $300 from June-Sept. I would count on $2400 a year.

True, but all else being equal, that sounds like a great way to tell for an individual house.

October and November and March, April and May are hot in south Florida, You must live in a shaded area or near a nice sea breeze.

I called FPL and was quoted $220 a month in the summer months....they were way off. At the time I was on the third floor (1200sf), AC at 78, dryer and dishwasher ran every other day with no timer on the water heater....the highest summer bill I had was $110.

I'm now in a 1200sf two story townhome...same usage (AC is lower though; 76)...highest summer bill is $70.

You can control your electric bill and water bill...taxes and insurance? Not so much.

We have a 3,000 square foot two-story home. Two AC units: one for upstairs, one for downstairs. No pool. LED lights, programmable thermostat that alternates temps upstairs and downstairs due to usage.

Power bill runs about $265/month in the summer, $125/month in the winter.

What are your thermostat settings?

Thanks.

Well, just an update now that we've been here about 5 months. We ended up buying a 2053 SF one-story home built in 2016 in Ft Myers. Just the two of us, no pool, thermostat set to 80. Ceiling fans to keep comfy.

Our FPL bills have run from a high of about $100 in the summer, down to a low (so far) of about $65 in the fall. No winter or spring numbers yet.

Wow! That's amazing. I consider myself fortunate that my bills lately have only been around $102 a month and I keep my a/c at 78-80. I'm in a 2 bedroom condo on the 2nd floor of a 3 story complex so that helps keep the heat out. However my son has the TV on in his room a lot and when he is home he keeps cranking the thermostat down to 76 while I sit on the couch in a parka....

Without the air conditioning, I pay @ $80 a month Three tv's , another freezer, and mostly recessed ceiling lighting used in the kitchen . Use ceiling fans in four rooms.
Summer $175 a month 1850 sq. ft home. Considering my bills in NJ a bargain here in Fl.
