Does anyone remember 2nd Avenue back in the 1940s and 1950s? I'm looking at possibly buying a house on 2nd. I'd like to find out what the area was like back about the time the house was built and why there are so many empty lots on 2nd. I wish I could get deed information to find out who all lived there but the county's website isn't helping much... Can anyone lend any advice? Thanks.

2nd avenue is in Pine Manor. You have to be careful how you write out a street. There are a lot of similar streets written different ways. There is even a 2nd Street out in Fort Myers Shores.

I briefly lived on 2nd Street, near downtown and that's probably the one you are discussing.

Try the Lee Trust for Historic Preservation Lee Trust Home Page or the Southwest Florida Historical Society, (239) 939-4044.

You're right, I should've been more clear I'm talking about 2nd Avenue that eventually becomes Seaboard Street. Thanks for your help!!

I'm talking about the same one. It's 2nd STREET.

okay, okay. STREET. Geez. Calm down, it'll be alright. I don't think the Earth shifted off it's axis because I put Avenue instead of Street.

if I were buying a house, this would were I'd want it to be... the river, downtown, the walkability of the area, and of course the landscape. great spot!

Some of those old homes close to downtown could be interesting

You will want to walk the neighborhood at different times of day and night to ensure you are comfortable with possible safety perception issues in the area east and south of downtown.
