College grad looking to relocate to Fort Worth... (Houston, Dallas: neighborhoods, places to live)

I'll be graduating from Texas State (San Marcos) in a few months and I need a change. I grew up my whole life in a small town (population ~2000, graduated with 64 people haha), went to college in a moderately sized city, and am now looking for something different. I know I don't want to live in Houston, grew up close enough to Corpus Christi, have already lived in Austin, and about 95% positive I want to really take a huge leap and move to Fort Worth. I'm an agriculture major and I really like the more laid-back, "country" (if you will) atmosphere that Fort Worth seems to offer over Dallas (along with the job selection). The thing is, I'm definitely not a native North Texan, and while I've visited FW, I'm pretty much going to be coming out here with no knowledge of the different districts and neighborhoods, etc., so any help would be appreciated! I'm definitely more into the stockyards scene, but any tips and/or knowledge of the city/nightlife/atmosphere/basically anything is helpful!

get a job first--
that would be my suggestion

it is easy to gather information about where you do find work...
FTW is growing, has lots of bars/restaurants/activities for young professionals
the smaller towns around FTW--they vary--
but if you can get a job in/around FTW and live inside the city you can probably be very happy

You may also want to visit www.fortwortharchitecture.com and click on "forum". That is usually a good source of all things Fort Worth and lots of pictures to look at.

Thanks for the help! I am definitely on the job hunt right now, since I'm looking to move to the area in December/January and I've got a few leads within FW and Arlington. I'm planning on making a few weekend trips up in the next month or so, any places (museums, restaurants, bars, etc) that are recommended to check out? I just want to get more acclimated with the city so I won't feel as if I'm just moving here blindly...

if you are interested in FTW itself
think Sundance Sq, Stockyards, and So7 which is area in transition across the Trinity on 7th st

if you are in Arlington--Lincoln Sq area and the area around Parks Mall
Grapevine TX--north of Arlington and east of FTW--has some neat places to eat/drink and historic downtown with shopping-- a few wine tasting storefronts

Ditto on Fort Worth.

Arlington -- add the Arlington Highlands to that list. A lot of younger folks visit that area now.

Grapevine -- I haven't really heard of Grapevine being a "happening spot" for people my age, but it does have the mall, so that's a plus.

On top of that, you have Las Colinas, Addison, and Dallas nearby.

But please -- make sure you have a job lined up first.

If you're in your 20s or 30s and active, social, etc, you can't beat downtown or the cultural district. If you're seeking a more bohemian district check out Fairmount. There are great places to live in Fort Worth. Not sure about the "country" bit mentioned earlier - I'd suggest that people avoid getting confused between what our city's tourism bureau publishes and the actual city. The cowboy crowd mostly lives out in Parker County.
