I would really like to get some information about Texas. I have been there once and I liked it. Anyway, I live in NYC but my friend just bought a house in FTW and I want to go there to spend a few months and get a job hopefully. The thing is, since I live in NYC, I chose not to get a drivers license but I know in Tx, I'll probably need to drive. I recently got my NY permit and may move to Texas before I get my DL. My question is, will I be able to get a Tx DL with my NYC permit? Will I have to apply for Tx permit? What about residency? I don't plan to live there permanently, just for a few months... Any advice?

An individual can legally drive with a valid, unexpired driver license from another state or country for up to 90 days after moving to Texas.
