Hi,

Just looking for a small piece of land for weekend farming and to take break from the daily routine, can you suggest any inexpensive farm land near Fort Worth?

Thanks!

Inexpensive is a relative term. You could look down towards granbury, west past Weatherford, or northwest out towards Springtown.

A lot of land is not listed in MLS, offered for sale by the owner. Go out for a weekend drive. Watch for the soils. Some areas have a limestone cap rock at a shallow depth, others have good soils. Springtown area would be my best bet. Check the 'advanced search' on Realtor.com and also see what pops up.

Good luck.

It depends on how far you are willing to drive. For instance, our home is in Benbrook, and we have a 16 acre piece of land close to Cedar Creek Lake around Gun Barrel City (southeast of Dallas). It is a 90-minute drive along I-20, then Highway 275. We purchased the land (with a mobile home on it) for around $80,000, if I recall right.

I will try both Springtown and Benbrook.

You're right, I may have to drive around to find something for sale by owner, can't seem to find anything online.
