Hi all,

I am relocating to the DFW this summer. I have considered Dallas but I have also considered Fort Worth. Coming from Colorado Springs, CO Fort Worth seems more my tempo. I am in the process of completing my Texas certification. I have already mailed all the required documents and been given the required test and I am currently waiting on my 1 year certification. I have already register to take the required test before I leave Colorado. I anticipate having my 1 year by next month, I am just waiting on the TEA.

Any tips on areas to live and school districts that are out of state higher friendly? I am single with no kids and looking to spend no more than $1,100 a month hopefully.

What grade are you wanting to teach?

Positions can be very competitive depending on district/grade/subject. Hopefully you are not high school level history, as those spots are almost exclusively given to coaches. My wife has a masters in history and had a hard time finding a job.

I would wait to see where you are going to end up teaching so you can figure out a better travel plan to and from work. You can always look at downtown Fort Worth, very nice and safe and a 1 bed room should keep you around that price range 1100-1200.

Thanks, Fort Worth forum doesn't seem to be as informative as the Dallas one.
