Shotty journalism. "Stoned to Death" brings up images of vigilante justice. Like the person was caught, tied to a fence post, and the neighbors all threw stones at the guy.

This guy started shooting and the "fight or flight" response from would-be victims caused them to pick up bricks and throw it towards the gunman. He died from being struck by the brick.
