Awhile back the city acquired the funds to start on the project, also they have built a little section of the "river walk". It's like a sneak peek of what it's going to look like. From all the pictures and maps that I have seen it's definitely a big project and will take years to complete. Fort Worth really needs a place like this, it will definitely look nice and also gives a place for families to go to and will help their local economy.

Huge boondoggle that has been scandal-ridden from the start.

It's not a city project. It's being completed by the water district. And the part of the river walk that was completed is part of an apartment complex. The developer paid for it. Speculation is that the project will be funded by the recent infrastructure bill, but that's far from a done deal. They took some steps to move on from the earlier mismanagement and, in the last couple of weeks, re-hired the recently departed under-qualified director of the project in a sweetheart consulting contract that was just low enough to require board approval.
