I am looking to buy a bed with a matress and a compact storage furniture. Where should I look to shop?

I'd look at Ikea online and overstock.com to get ideas

I've seen those units at local 'unfinished' furniture stores

IKEA often has a section where there are "seconds" and floor models available for sale. Check that as well if there is one near you.

Depending on your skills at repurposing shop yard sales, estate auctions, Goodwill and various 2nd hand stores are gold mines for good cheap furniture

I don't know if I get a bed from goodwill... who knows what has "happened" to it... Cheap = lower quality most of the time... I would look at Big Lots and then wait for the 20% off friends and family discount (which happened to be yesterday and expired)... I look for deals on slickdeals.net or fatwallet.com

If the bed is in good condition then slip it into a plastic "bed wetter" slip cover. Seals all the bad stuff right up.

I don't know if I can sleep knowing there is a big unknown beneath the cover... bed bugs, stains, fecal matter hehehehe.... the same could be said of hotel beds...
