Well being frugal doesn't really start and stop with grocery buying. I can see where people might feel that being frugal could impact or limit their career however I haven't experienced it

The OP's original question isn't clearly presented.
I'm still confused as to what the person is REALLY trying to ask.

Most doctors and laywers are natural frugal by profession because most of them are forced to pay AMT and their tax liabilities are quite high compare to financial careers where they have more knowledge and ways to reduce their tax burdens and come out ahead such as getting your job's expense accts to order goods and pay no sales tax and write off as work expenses.

Well this seems to be a bunch of crazy flawed logic. Some of the worst spenders I've run into have been attorneys who also at times should be the most well versed in terms of the law and how to handle taxes.

I don't think it would impact a high income person's career if they were frugal. Honestly, who's going to know you bought that expensive car used, that fancy watch used, that fancy suit at a consignment store? You can still buy luxury stuff without hitting your wallet and no one including your clients would know.

Very true. I know guys in Real Estate finance that I've seen shopping at Savers or Goodwill for work clothes and these guys make well upwards of six figures. Nobody but them (and me) would know.

I've known a number of multimilionaires. They were all quite frugal to a certain degree on some things. Just not everything.

For some of us who lived in abject poverty while in grad school (or professional school), frugality became part of our daily routine and we didn't give it up once we earned our degrees and our careers got going.
