i live on ft hood texas and i recently found a large brown caterpillar in my livingroom it has no hair and no distinctive markings its about the size of a paper clip can anyone tell me what it is? i was just curious as to whether it was actually a caterpillar or sometype of worm

If it had visible feet and a visible mouth it was not a "worm" per se.
he actually seems to have some slightly darker spots on him and thank you lifelongMOgal ive look at the links but i cant seem to find this caterpillar on any of them
...but it is a nice little caterpillar that needs to be taken outside and gently placed in/on some bushes or something else where it will likely be safe

i dont have any bushes i only have grass in my yard we just moved in and i havent been able to plant anything would it be ok there? how does a caterpillar do in captivity? my daughter wants to see it grow but i dont want to kill it on accident.
