Can anybody tell me this tree? Maybe cherry? (trees, leaves, plants)

Its out front of my new house. Not sure if its a cherry tree with edible cherrys or not. Thanks if you know!

That looks like my neighbors tree. The fruits are the same size as cherries, but they are single stems. I think cherries usually have two stems/cherries together. So far, her's haven't ripened. I'm curious what it is, too.

Maybe crabapple?? OR possibly a type of flowering plum. I thought they all had purple leaves, but it seems that some do not. I just googled it.

I think it is an ornamental crab apple tree. They come with the reddish purple leaves as well as green.



In Maine I planted a malus "profusion" and it was a very nice tree.

OP.....Does it have that little nub on the bottom, like an apple??

I think you may be right about the crab apples. Here is a close up of the fruits kady, it seems to have something sticking out of the ends rather than pushing in like a apple.

My neighbors fruit doesn't have that poking out the bottom. Her's must be different.

I don't know what it is, but it is not a cherry tree and it is not a crabapple tree.

I don't think it is any kind of edible fruit tree, unless maybe you are located in the tropics. There re lots of tropical plants that I have no experience with, so have no comment about.

OP, cut off a branch and trot it around to the local farm extension agent. If he doesn't know, head out to some of the local nurseries and see if they can identify it.

Might be a purple leaf plum. Another picture of the whole tree would be helpful.
