Could someone help identify this plant. My wife thinks it is a phlox of some type? Thanks Jeff

Leaves are not quite right for an African Violet.
I've seen this plant before, not recalling what it is at the moment.

I think it's possible; look at this violet: saintpaulia+dieff-type+(own).jpg (image) mainly the shape and positioning of the leaf, as well as the fuzzy aspect.

Though the above pictured variety has a variegated leaf, as opposed to a solid leaf.

The stem is much to thin and not very fleshy (succulent-like) to be an African Violet. And Violets leaves grow more compact.
I looked through some of my book and while I have not found anything exact, the closest I could find is that you may possibly have a Begonia.

The stem looks a little square. Is it? If so, look up the mint family.

Owl is right.
That is a begonia.
It will bloom when the weather warms up in spring, jut
don't over water it.
