Is it near any plants or living green areas that you want to keep alive? If it isn't you can use a mixture of 1 gallon white vinegar, 1 tablespoon dawn soap and a few tablespoons salt. It will kill it after one or two applications. Just do not get it on any plants, trees, grass, herbs, etc. that you want to keep alive. Doing it in the afternoon when there is lots of sun is best - lets the mixture really get in there and do what it needs to do.
Can someone please help me identify this weed in my grass? I can't seem to get rid of it.
Violas, or wild violet.
You can use Weed-B-Gon Chickweed, Clover and Oxalis Killer to get rid of them. You have to spray them, and spray them, as they exist via rhizomes.
Then put lots of lime down to make your yard less inviting.
Agree, probably wild violet. Most folk just ignore them, but for a perfect monoculture Pitt Chick has good ideas.
