I searched trying to locate anything before the marriage which might lead me to his mother, father, or sibs, but no luck. I'm sorry you couldn't find any more on him. Maybe it's back to ship's lists to find him! The only way he could have entered VT without coming on a ship was to arrive in CA and cross the border into VT.
Sometimes I find little tidbits by googling the person's name, dates, and name of town in VT. There may be a town history that makes mention of him.
(I didn't find anything on my Phineas either.
Going to have to call the town where he was supposedly married.)
