They always seem to auto-suggest standardized place names for me, albeit I don't wander outside the USA much as my family on both sides has been here a long time. Maybe it's not as straightforward for other particularly non-English-speaking countries, I dunno.
So what you're saying is it's a volunteer project to enter the standardized place names where the last person to enter/edit the place name failed to do so?
