PODS lied to me about the cost of having a POD shipped from one facility to another. On the phone they said it was no extra charge and then made me pay for it later. I would recommend against using them, unless you live in a state where a recorded phone conversation is admissible in court.

Have you looked at other Upack/Weship outfits ?

Good list with info here
https://www.moving.com/tips/the-best...ner-companies/

My favorite is ABF's Upack with choice of ReloCube, or small semi-trailer (you only pay for space used). Did 2000 mile move, zero problems.

Let us know what works out for you/

With any of the services, make sure you understand the delivery policy at the other end, especially if you're storing the POD for awhile or moving to a semi rural area. Clients we've had who have used it were shocked to find out PODs would not deliver to their address when they got here, they had to go rent a truck and unpack the pod at their facility 30 miles away.

They hadn't planned on that.

Thank you everyone great posts !

PODS has higher monthly for storage, however, there’s no time limit for storage like with some of the other companies.

Is there a place for none of the above? We sold what we could, donated the rest, and bought some really neat stuff for the new place at thrift stores and 2nd hand furniture stores. Saved a fortune, and shopping was a lot of fun.

This was our experience from 2017. We were selling our house and renting for six months while our new home was being built in the same metro area. We planned to use a POD to store about 1/3 of our stuff at their facility while we were in the rental. When the time came, there was some major hurricane down in Texas, and the PODs people said they were diverting units down to there, and had no units locally. So we went with Pack Rat, which was a bit more expensive but not overly so. All the pickups and drop offs were as promised and we had no damage. I seem to recall I had a discount code from their website or Retail me Not.
