I'm currently from Chicago, and I'm looking for a place to finish up my schooling and find a place more suitable for me..
I guess you could say I have alot of the same interests as those stinkin hippies
I'm broke, I love nature & I enjoy, Enjoying my time [:
To start with, I am not looking for anywhere too snowy. I'm tired of clinging to my wheel everytime winter comes around. I'm tired of thinking I'm going to die all the time. So I want to stick with somewhere that rarely snows. And if it does snow, it doesnt stick for too long.
I want an area basically to suffocate me with it's natural presence. I love spending my time outdoors exploring. I love the mountains, and the rolling hills. Also having access to a lake would just be amazing.
I'm not really into the whole "colllege scene" so basically the opposite would be nice. I like a unique town with unique things/shops to see.
oh, and I'm a huge thrift shopper so having one by me would be a must!
I love concerts, so I must be around an area where alot of shows are going on. Traveling is not a problem.
Santa Cruz is not small nor cheap. I would say humboldt county, arcata would be best for you if you want CA.
She is coming from Chicago, so yes she would most likely think it is small, it's 50k people vs 3 million she's coming from. UC Santa Cruz is also a much better school than Humboldt State. But if its hippies she wants, well, hippies she will get in Arcata, and not much else.
She also states: I love concerts, so I must be around an area where alot of shows are going on. Traveling is not a problem.
So being a hop skip and a jump away from San Francisco would be good.
Arcata, CA-I would say the most genuinely hippie place I've seen I've been up and down the west coast
Santa Cruz, CA-definitely a large hippie scene, and an amazing campus
Eugene, OR-just go to their saturday market! Its an awesome town!
Boulder, CO-never been but heard its very trust fund hippie haha
Bellingham, WA-never been but heard its beautiful
Ashland, OR-I've only driven through, but it seems like a great town and definitely known for hippies
Univ of Georgia in Athens, GA. It's one of my favorite college towns. Based on what you like I would have suggested U of Mass in Amherst, but they do get snow. Amherst is next door to Northampton which is quintessentially crunchy.
Rollins College- located in beautiful Winter Park, FL. Right next to Orlando, so you get big city amenities close by while still living in a small town with unique shops and cafes.
