I posted this same thread in the Denver forum, but havnt gottin any respons but I live Tacoma, and wanna move becauce of the increasing gang activity in East Tacoma, that has my two sons getting in to trouble, I'm origanaly from Long Beach, CA and moved from there for the same reason when they were younger. I have a friend out there who said It was nice out there, but he lives out in lakewood and said its not that diverse, and said that majority of the black community lives on the east side of the city, like in montbello, Parkhill, and Aurora but also said that is were most of the gang and crime infested nieborhoods were, but he is also from a upper class niebohood in San jose and never been to any "bad" nieborhoods to compare, so my question is how bad is the gang activity in Denver compared to the Tacoma and Seattle area lesser or worse? I would appreciate it if some out there can give me some info. Thanks

I had a friend who got shot in Denvers five points neighborhood right outside down town. Downtown denver seemed really crummy at night from what i remember. Lots of sketchy looking types, crackheads, etc.

Have you looked into the nicer neighborhoods of Seattle? I know Tacoma is pretty bad, but Seattle overall is a safe city. However, I'd also avoid the Skyway, Tukwila, Rainier Ave. areas.

I grew up in Montbello, and lived all through E Denver and Aurora, and yea I would say that Denver has alot more gang activity then Tacoma Exspiecialy Seattle, I'd go as far to say that SE Colorado Springs has as much if not more gang activity and violent crime then any hood in Washington.

When I used to get Denver's newspaper, alot of the homicides I read about were gang related.Theres actually alot of gangs in Denver's metro area.Colorado Springs, not to far to the south of Denver doesn't have that much gang activity.I read something that theres between 400-500 known gang members in Colorado Springs out of about 400,000 people, but as MontbelloTopHat siad the SE side is probably the worst side for gang activity and crime.

400-500? I think you mad that, up try 8,000 registerd gang members in the Springs, and 20,000 in Denver and 11,000 in Aurora, and I got that info from a deputy when I was down in CJC, also Seattle is alot bigger than the Springs and both have around the same amount of murders a year, with Seattle haven just a couple more, even though it has hundreds of thousands more people, and the springs allways has more than Tacoma, and even though the city proper of Tacoma is smaller, almost 80-90% of the murders in the springs happen down on the SE were as in Tacoma its spread out, also I kno u live up norh, and driving down S Academy doesnt mean u kno what goes on doen there

I actually read something that there is 400-500 known gang members in Colorado Springs, maybe it was wrong, but I know what I read. Please tell me where I siad I know what goes on down south, please qoute where I siad that.I qouted you as saying that the SE side is where most gang activity and crime is.I don't actually have to be down there to know that.I do read the newspaper.I do live up North, but also, please tell me where where I siad I know what goes on down south because I drove down South Academy.I never siad anything like that.

Also here is a link to what Im talking about.

Anti-gang rally coming to a church next weekend Gazette, The (Colorado Springs) - Find Articles

I saw something in there that police track the activites of 400 Colorado Springs gang members. That might mean that out of the 8,000 gang members your talking about, that police only track the activites of 400 out of the 8,000 members.Im just going by what I read in that article.I live pretty close to Stetson Hills police station,so I'll ask them if they know.

I'm still growing up man and I'm from Park Hill... This place couldn't be safer man... I lived here my whole life and Park Hill has really cleaned up it's act since a lot of the trouble moved over to the newer neighborhoods... I went to a Middle School that borders Park Hill and Montbello and it's pretty much all clean now... I know this is posted a lot later but good luck man

31,000 gang members in the Denver area? If that was true, the crime rate is pretty tame.

I'm sorry, but 31,000 is the size of a good sized military installation. 31,000 gang members would likely result in a Juarez-like murder rate.
