Of all the northern states, which ones are the epitome of northern culture, traditions, way of life, and values the most? If you can't decide on one, pick a couple. Please explain why also.

How do we define "northern culture"? If you asked which state best represents New England culture, that might make more sense... but New England states will have a different culture from the Midwest states and it doesn't mean one is "more northern" than the other, they're just different. Sorry, I don't really know what you're asking.

Iowa? Ohio? Come on...those shouldn't even be in the mix.

I can't really take the thread seriously with some of the options given.

They're northern states. I wouldn't choose those, either, but I thought I should put almost all states historically viewed as northern on the list.

Both the Midwest and New England are part of the north and have some similiarities. Not part of the West or South. Similarly, Louisana and South Carolina are both part of the south even though they're rather far apart. A place that's the most northern would have the cultural charecteristics found in other parts of the US and common to specifically to the north. Or maybe further from the average American norm, and so distinctly northern.

The Midwest and Northeast are very different, despite both of them being "Northern". Both of these regions also have subregions that vary widely.

Northern...

Alaska
Maine
Minnesota

They seem very northern to me, when I think of those
I think of lumberjacks, woods, snow and cold winters.

Definitely not Michigan, we have way too many Southern transplants. The number of gun racks and rebel flags per capita here disqualifies us right off the bat.

Minnesota, so northern almost seems like it should be in Canada.
