New York City is the financial capital of the US, and Charlotte is #2 for banking.

Omaha, NE is a boom town for insurance companies.

I believe that you already live in Charlotte. I'd stay there if I had the decision to make, because even though finance touches every corner of business, it tends to be concentrated on the East Coast in cities with much higher costs of living than in Charlotte.

Hartford, CT is the insurance capital of the world. Nice suburbs, reasonable cost of living and halfway between NY and Boston.
