I know some play viedo games. I'm not that stupid. Video games are played no matter where you go.
The average life of a southerner? Busy all the time like a New Yorker? No way, New Yorkers are around people way more than southerners and due to all the pedestrian traffic here, everything is always in a hurry. Don't even try to compare life in Atlanta to life in New York City.
I wasn't saying Atlanta was as busy as New York. I was saying that the daily schedule you described was completely parallel to most southern teenagers.
And the south may not be as busy as say a Manhattan, but we are busy and very active, and we don't just sit on our asses, contrary to your belief.
Actually, San Diego is always near the top for least physically fit on every list I've seen.
Down here everyone does the whole wearing a swimsuit on the hot So-Cal beach thing, you gotta be fit to do that. In fact, it's considered a crime to be out of shape in So-Cal. It's part of the shallow, high-standard attitude down here. Being a "beautiful person" is a must here if you want to be popular. That's why So-Cal is also the plastic surgery capital of America, it's all about appearence and image.
And the gyms are always packed full of people. Actually every gym here almost always seems to be too full. You have to wait for machines a lot and in general, the gyms are crowded, noisy and packed. The beaches are full of bicylists, runners and rollerbladers. And everywhere you go people are trying really hard to flaunt their bodies/muscles. This is a very fit place.

I never said southerners laze around. I said I highly doubt they are as fit as New Yorkers.
What is the secret of Minneapolis? They are the most literate city in the nation, the fourth-fittest city in the nation, and consistently rank in the Top 10 in just about every other positive poll as well.
Yeah, if you count snowy cold weather as positive.

That means nothing. It's a stereotype. Just like the stereotype of New York as a "dirty, crime-ridden hole that is infested by prostitutes and crack addicts." It's false.
Fat people aren't going to want to go to the beach in a bikini. The entire California population does not spend their weekend at the beach. So you're judging fitness based on the small number of Californians at the beach...?

Are you kidding? My grandma grew up in Connecticut and thought that the people in the south were a lot like people in the Northeast, always dressing up, really conservative, and very professional lifestyles.
I think that may seem a little biased, but I personally don't see to much difference.

Thank you! Yeah, we have fat people here too, even though in some areas it could take you months to spot an obese person (Irvine ftw). But trust me, not al of California is all fit and healthy like Hollywood is.

No, i'm judging it on the fact that i've lived up and down California almost all of my life and traveled all around the Western U.S. Admittedly, i've never been back east at all, the furthest East i've been is the bible belt, but I don't claim to know what the east is all about.....
I was just using that as an example of WHY people around here make a bigger effort to stay fit than they probobly would in a colder climate. And from my experience, obesity does usually seem to be a bigger problem in colder climate locales. Because people cover up with coats, stay indoors more and general live a more sedentary lifestyle. With exceptions of course, these are all generalizations, this whole topic is though really. I'm not trying to get into a silly internet arguement here.
Overall nobody is going to prove which city is the fittest. It is very subjective and almost impossible to prove, and this topic has turned into a silly *****ing contest that nobody will win. It's all conjecture an speculation here.
So for that reason, this will be my last post on this topic. Have fun yall.
