That's ridiculous. Obviously people who aren't from that area are going to pronounce it with their accent.
Now I can't stand Bush, but this is petty and over the top. I live in CT and can't care less how people pronounce it. Just for the record it's "kuh-net-ih-cut"
Wow, this is really a big deal to you isn't it, this is the second thread you've started on the 'correct' pronouncation of western states. I'm with jad2000, I'm not a Bush fan, but c'mon now, I can think of some reasons to criticize the guy that actually matter.
I've always said Nevada correctly and must admit it bothers me when people say it wrong. That isn't as bad though as calling Massachusetts, Mass-A-Too-Sits and Illinois, Ill-A-Noise. That drives me nuts.
I lived in Reno and learned to pronounce it NEEVada as well.
