State College, PA (home of Penn State University) has a Trader Joe's. There are rural areas within 20 minutes of the store.

The one in Danbury, CT … not sure but it's close to places like Pawling, NY which are pretty rural.

The ones I'm thinking of are Wilmington DE, Lexington KY and Asheville, NC.

You may have a lot of choices. It might help to narrow down the search and consider climate, topography, jobs, etc.

The one in Wilmington my be the winner. On the one hand it is right up against a mall and typical sprawl but across hwy 202 it gets pretty rural right away. Maybe it's a park - does that count as rural?

I'm guessing someone is engaged in an argument that you can't live rural and be close to a trader Joe's.

Or maybe it is someone sincerely wanting to relocate to a rural environment near "city" conveniences.
