If you're going suburbs, North, South, East or West they're generally alike. Some big box stores, chain restaurants, fast food and a movie theatre.

St. Louis is terribly bland.

I don't necessarily agree, but I have heard from many people on CD and elsewhere that DFW seems like "Big City, Anywhere USA"

Yeah I can see that. There's nothing in the (unbuilt) environment to really distinguish it.

Take Fort Worth outta the picture and the Metroplex is definitely about as generic as it gets.

Sometimes, a place on the surface can appear "generic," but really be more interesting/exotic than the rest of the country. For instance, Jacksonville and Houston are often called generic, just because they have areas of suburban sprawl. However, their environments/landscapes/aesthetics are found nowhere else in the country outside a small zone close to the SE US coast.

Outside of the plastic known as Disney World, etc there isn't a whole lot of anything non-generic in Orlando, which I suppose is part of it's "charm" to the generic American population. It's unexplainable otherwise.
