I believe OP is from Eastern Europe. Like, LIVES in Europe, not just from their grandparents. And different European cultures are well... different. Silly to say they're "just white." Would you tell Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese people "why do you draw lines between them? you're just Asian!"

I have a friend who would say "I'm not white, I'm Irish."
