I live in upstate ny . My job cities are limited to major cities with airports as I am in the transportation industry . I would like to try and live in a coastal city/ oceanic climate for a little get a change of scenery .
I don't think I could ever bring myself to live in Florida I have no desire for that onslaught of humidity 8 months of the year and rain every afternoon .

What cities in the east coast within a half hour of the ocean would be right for me ?

Boston is out of my budget , Maine I wouldn't have my job in .

My research points to Norfolk or Charleston am I missing another city ?

If the heat and humidity of Florida is a turn-off for you, Charleston might be too much for you as well.

And if Charleston isn't too much, maybe Savannah? And if Savannah isn't too much, maybe Jacksonville?

The only other option that comes to mind south of New England/NY/PA is Baltimore. I know B'more has its shortcomings, but I have friends there who are quite smitten. Never been, myself, so I'm just throwing it out there.

Baltimore is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from the Ocean. It is on the Chesapeake and the climates are a bit different. I live in coastal MD, and other then the occasional super cold snap that gets us all (like the past month) it is definitely milder here on the coast.

Another idea: Wilmington, NC. Not sure what the airport activity is like, though.

It is not.

Wilmington, NC comes to mind. As someone else pointed out, Providence could also be a good option, although cost of living is a bit higher. Not anything like Boston, but not as cheap as Wilmington.

Could always live with roommates to bring your expenses way down.
